In a heartwarming turn of events, the wild horse that endured a failed capture attempt, leaving a rope around its neck for over a month, has finally been reunited with its band, thanks to the unwavering support of the community. The challenging task of tracking the horse proved to be no easy feat for advocates, who dedicated their time and efforts to ensuring the safety and well-being of the majestic creature.

After a month-long ordeal, a local veterinarian stepped in to provide critical assistance. With great care and expertise, the vet successfully removed the rope, which had caused a deep and concerning wound. The horse, slowly being decapitated by the tight constraint, was spared further suffering, thanks to the timely intervention of the veterinary professional. The community played a pivotal role in this heartening rescue story, rallying together to provide support and resources. Notably, the effort to save the horse was achieved without local government involvement.

"Wild Horses in Danger: Strangling Incidents in Ruidoso, New Mexico"

As of April 21, the noose is still present around the horse's neck as she roams with her group. This poses a serious risk to her safety and well-being, as she could become strangled, injured by objects, or engage in activities that could cause harm. Furthermore, there is a risk of starvation if the horse is unable to eat properly due to the noose. Immediate action is necessary to ensure the horse's safety and well-being."

The truth and answer to the question: Who has Jurdisction?

"The wild horses that roam the mountains near Ruidoso are protected by multiple jurisdictions."

Several concerned citizens have reported incidents of wild horse abuse to the authorities, then reported through social media comments ,only to receive responses claiming that there is nothing they can do.

Some officials have even suggested that people should just let nature take its course or have made alarming comments, such as a deputy who said that someone could shoot a wild horse if it was on their property.

This type of response is unacceptable and shows a lack of responsibility from the authorities in protecting these wild horse from harm.

If you witness wild horses being roped, bumped by aggressive drivers on the roads, chased by motor vehicles causing them to injure or break their legs, or otherwise mistreated, it is crucial to take action to prevent harm to these animals.

You can report the incident to your local animal control agency, police department, or wildlife agency, but the question remains: will they take appropriate action to protect the wild horses? Unfortunately, instances of cruelty towards wild horses persist, with some individuals getting away with harming these magnificent creatures.

It is not the solution to remove the wild horses from their natural habitat in search of food and water. Instead, we need to put an end to the abuse these magnificent animals are facing and discourage calls for their unnecessary removal."

"this would be the most extreme form of neglect, failing to solve the real issues at hand, which is caused by humans.

As a wild life community, we refuse to tolerate any form of abuse or persecution towards the wild horses that roam freely in our area. We must work together to ensure that these animals are treated with the respect and care that they deserve.

It is deeply concerning and troubling that some are attempting to gather support for actions that would cause harm or suffering to the wild horses by seemling supporting a removal of the horses and not addresing the reall issues the lack of protection that is not enforced in our area.

Communiti

Elected Officials

Advocacy work can be challenging, especially if elected officials refuse to discuss your advocacy and do not support your cause. However, there are several steps you can take to continue advocating for wild horses:

  1. Document everything: Keep a record of all communication and interactions with the elected officials involved in your case, including any attempts to work with them. This documentation may be useful in future legal or advocacy efforts.

  2. Seek support from other officials: While some elected officials may not be supportive of your cause, there may be others who are. Reach out to officials at the state or federal level who may be able to support your advocacy efforts.

  3. Engage with the media: The media can be a powerful tool for raising awareness about your cause and holding elected officials accountable. Consider reaching out to local or national media outlets to share your story and highlight the importance of protecting wild horses.

  4. Seek legal advice: If you feel that your rights have been violated or that you are facing retaliation for your advocacy work, it may be worth consulting with a lawyer who specializes in free speech or civil rights issues.

  5. Continue advocating: Don't let the actions of a few elected officials discourage you from continuing to advocate for wild horses. Your voice and your passion are important, and you may be able to inspire others to join your cause.

  6. Run for Office: Running for office can provide an opportunity to make a positive impact on the community and create change. A candidate who supports wild horses may have a particular interest in environmental conservation, animal welfare, or rural development. They could use their campaign to raise awareness of the issues facing wild horses and advocate for policies that support their protection and preservation.

It is unfortunate to hear that are local authorities are not taking responsibility for protecting the welfare of wild horses in my area. This has lead to confusion and uncertainty about who is responsible for addressing incidents of cruelty or neglect, and can leave these animals vulnerable to mistreatment and harm. In situations where local authorities are not taking action to protect animals, it may be necessary to escalate concerns and advocate for stronger enforcement

It is understandable that many citizens may feel frustrated or discouraged about the lack of action from local authorities. However, by continuing to advocate and raise awareness about the importance of protecting wild horses and other animals, we can work towards creating a more compassionate and responsible community that prioritizes animal welfare and protection.

If the authorities and relevant state agencies have not responded to reports of animal cruelty, it is important to continue to bring attention to the issue and apply pressure to ensure action is taken. You can reach out to local media outlets, share information on social media platforms, and contact your elected officials to express your concern.

If all other avenues have been exhausted and the government continues to ignore incidents of animal cruelty, legal action may be necessary. This could include filing a lawsuit against the government or individual officials for failing to uphold animal protection laws or for negligence in addressing incidents of animal cruelty or neglect. It is important to remember that animal cruelty is a serious issue and we all have a responsibility to take action to prevent it. Together, we can work to protect animals and promote their welfare.

Petition to Protect Horses from Harassment and Abuse

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the treatment of horses in our community. Too often, wild horses are subjected to harassment and abuse at the hands of humans, which is not only inhumane but also illegal. We believe that it is the responsibility of local authorities to take action to protect wild horses from such treatment and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. We, therefore, call on local law enforcement and animal welfare agencies to take the following steps: Increase enforcement of animal cruelty laws in cases involving wild horses. Provide training to law enforcement officers and animal welfare officers on how to recognize and respond to incidents of wild horse abuse and harassment. Increase public education and awareness about the proper care and treatment of horses. Ensure that those responsible for wild horse abuse and harassment are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. We believe that these steps are necessary to ensure that horses are treated with the respect and care that they deserve. We urge local authorities to take action to protect these magnificent animals that are in our have the legal right to free roam in and out of the Village limits, to gain access to streams and grass lands from harm and to send a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our community.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

I hope that the information and suggestions provided were helpful in addressing concerns about continuing your advocacy work for wild horses in the face of legal challenges.

Remember that advocacy work can be challenging, but by staying committed to a cause and working with others who share your passion, you can make a positive impact and help protect these magnificent Wild horses.
